Julia Styles

Julia Styles was born in New York City in 1981, and she has been in acting since the age of 11. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English literature in 2005. She has been active in several volunteer organizations including Habitat for Humanity where she helped build housing for the needy in Costa Rica. She has also been an advocate for Amnesty International and has done other volunteer work between her many films.

The first film that Julia Styles made was one in which she had a non-speak part in I Love You, I Love You Not in 1996. She played her first leading role in Wicked in 1998 as a girl accused of murdering her own mother. Julia Styles was very popular at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival in other parts of the world, but the film was not released in the United States. She also played a leading role with Keith Ledger in 1999 in 10 Things I Hate About You. For this performance, she was awarded the MTV Movie Award. Critics were impressed with her performance and proclaimed that she was one of the most promising new actresses of the year.

In this film, she appeared as a ballerina who turned to hip-hop dance that got her into The Juilliard School. She was also awarded the Teen Choice Award as well as a Rolling Stone appearance on the magazine cover. Styles proudly performed all of the ballet for the film and did not require a stand-in dancer as some thought she did.

Julia Styles career continued on with many more film appearances, such as State and Main in 2002. The movie was filmed in Vermont, and the actor appeared with Alec Baldwin. The Business of Strangers, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum were successful appearances for her.  She has played the role of a young girl or young adult in many of these films, sometimes seducing an older man or appearing as a school girl. Julia Styles has also made horror films, such as The Cry of the Owl when she played the role of a girl who happens to fall in love with a man who has been stalking her.

In 2003, Julia Styles made an appearance in A Guy Thing with Selma Blair and Jason Lee. Critics did not respond favorably to her appearance as a comedian. She has also appeared with Julia Roberts in Mona Lisa Smile as a college student at Wellesley College in the 1950s. In 2004, she moved on to The Prince and Me where she again played a student who falls in love with a Danish price.

The actor’s stage career involves many appearances as well, both in the United States and in London. She was a part of the Ridge Theater group in Manhattan from 1993 to 1998.

Julia Styles has also appeared on Saturday Night Live, both as a host and in the role of Jenna Bush, one of President George W. Bush’s daughters. The actress was a presenter at the 73rd Academy Awards in 2001. Her latest television role was in 2010 in a series entitled Dexter.
